Hardening of the arteries. Atherosclerosis. Carotid Artery Atherosclerosis. Calcium.
The connection? A decrease in carotid artery atherosclerosis! Calcium supplements reduce carotid artery atherosclerosis. Plus, the higher the calcium supplement intake, the lower the incidence of carotid artery atherosclerosis. (1) Most Chiropractic Clinic delights in being able to share exciting news like this!
So here it is, researchers are now talking up the benefit of calcium for heart health. We chiropractors know the benefit of nutrition for the body, its muscles and bones and organs. Most Chiropractic Clinic is pleased to share more scientific support for nutritional benefit with our Murfreesboro back pain and neck pain patients.
In this latest study, researchers studied the effect of calcium supplementation on women. The participants were randomized to taking different amounts of calcium. Those who took at least 80% of the supplement had significant reduction of carotid artery atherosclerosis. Women who took calcium did not have increased carotid artery atherosclerosis. Those who took the highest total intake of calcium from diet and supplementation had reduced carotid atherosclerosis compared to the lower total intake participants. The researchers conclude that high calcium intake may well reduce the surrogate cardiovascular risk factor. (1) This is terrific news for Murfreesboro women and men at risk of cardiovascular issues.
Once again, research overcomes misinformation. Murfreesboro chiropractic patients appreciate that. For a while, calcium supplementation was blamed for kidney stone formation. Science reported that as FALSE. (2) Now, calcium supplementation can’t be blamed easily for carotid artery atherosclerosis any more either.
